The RAIC Honours and Awards program seeks to bring national and international attention to Canada’s architects, architectural community and projects at the forefront of design excellence and responsible architecture today, in Canada or abroad. The RAIC honours and awards initiatives promote partnerships between architects and allied professionals supporting quality in the built environment through its programs such as the National Urban Design Awards and the Governor General’s Medals for Architecture. This is carried through all initiatives by fostering a standard of high-quality work and ethic through its Emerging Architectural Practice and Architectural Practice awards, and celebrates a lifetime of such work with its RAIC Gold Medal, the highest RAIC honour that can be bestowed on an individual or group.
Honours and Awards also supports and recognizes architectural contributions through advocacy, innovation and research, and journalism and media.
Honours and Awards creates connection and collegiality between professional colleagues through its selections of award juries and its rigorous award review process. All Honours and Awards programs support equity, diversity and inclusion and seek to bring to light and celebrate the varied people, projects and initiatives taking place in Canada, or by Canadians abroad.
