RAIC Architecture for Young Readers Project

On May 25, 2022, the RAIC Halifax Network, in partnership with Halifax Public Libraries, launched the Architecture for Young Readers book collection. The collection is the result of generous member sponsorship and a matching contribution from the RAIC. It includes approximately 110 books about architecture for children and youth.

As an indication of the need and interest in such a collection, almost all the books were reserved prior to the launch, including some books with multiple reservations!

A reception was held to celebrate the launch of the collection at the Central Library. Special guests included His Worship Mayor Savage of Halifax and library architect George Cotaras. Those in attendance had the opportunity to view the collection in its entirety prior to entering circulation, as well as participate in a tour of the building with Mr. Cotaras.

The RAIC would like to thank the Halifax Public Libraries, the Halifax Network, and the RAIC Members who sponsored a book – for four! – for this important initiative.
