A series of activities and events will honour exceptional achievements and dedication to architecture while acting as a forum for important discussions focused on climate action within the context of social justice, equality, and diversity in the profession.   

The RAIC Convocation Ceremony and Reception (October 2nd) will formally recognize RAIC members and distinguished laypersons who have made outstanding contributions to the profession. The ceremony also recognizes graduates of the RAIC Syllabus Program.     

The RAIC 2022 Congress on Architecture – RAIC Climate Action and Architecture (October 3rd), will focus on Climate Action and Architecture and the development of the RAIC Climate Action Engagement and Enablement Plan. 

The RAIC Celebration of Excellence Reception and Dinner (October 3rd) will honour individuals and teams whose dedication to architecture has led to exceptional achievements in design excellence, sustainability, innovation, and more.  

The RAIC and the Canadian Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute (CPCI) will co-host a special continuing education event titled Modular & Prefab the Future of Design & Construction (October 4th). This event will feature five sessions on a range of topics focused on the future of pre-cast concrete in the context of climate action and innovation.   

The RAIC will also be co-hosting a special event with Building Equality in Architecture Atlantic (BEAA) titled Perspectives from Atlantic Canada: Climate Action and Inclusivity in the Built Environment (October 4th). This event is a live, virtual broadcast that will be presented at in-person events hosted at the Algonquin Resort in Saint Andrews, NB, Halifax, NS, Charlottetown, PEI, Saint John, NB and St. John’s, NL.

The RAIC invites proposals for the presentation of continuing education sessions and architectural tours during the RAIC 2023 Conference on Architecture to be held from May 2nd to May 6th, 2023 in Calgary, AB. This event will also have a virtual component for continuing education sessions.

The program, which is tailored for professional and educational success, will feature high-quality learning opportunities that include interactive content, innovative ideas, and engaging discussions. Participants at all career levels will take away insights, inspiration, and ideas for practical application.

Thriving Forests & Regenerative Built Environments -The first event of its kind hosted by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and Pilot Projects Collaborative (Wood at Work).

This September, join us at this important symposium that will engage participants on multi-disciplinary questions surrounding relationships between forest legacies past and future, and the design, construction, and stewardship of our built environments.

A series of participants will discuss topics such as Indigenous perspectives on sustainable forestry, the carbon sequestration potential of Canadian forests and wood products, community perspectives on regenerative built environments, and the roles that architects can play in integrating these considerations into their practices.

Designing a high-performance building that exceeds Ontario Building Code Requirements is sought by all architects. This session, presented by Emilio Raimondo of Raimondo + Associates Architects, will provide details and discuss the Enbridge Savings by Design Program, who should participate in the program, who benefits and at what stage should you get your project involved. The session will also discuss case study projects which implemented the Savings by Design Program with Emilio Raimondo. Join us on July 22 at 1 p.m. EST for this session featuring a live Q&A.

The Enbridge Savings by Design Program brings architects, experts and clients together to provide innovative ideas on sustainability, improving cost control and providing incentives to reduce operating costs.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

Edmond Koch, FRAIC was our College of Fellows Atlantic Regional Chair

Dear Members of the RAIC,

It is with great sadness that the RAIC is writing to inform you that member Edmond Koch has passed away. He was a former President of the AANB (1992-1993) and a leader in the architectural profession in New Brunswick and in the Atlantic Region as the RAIC Atlantic Representative. He also played a key role in the RAIC College of Fellows. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and many colleagues.
