We are considering submitting a project for the Governor General’s Medals in Architecture. In reviewing the submission requirements for images, I note that we are now asked to include a site plan, a building plan, and a cross-section. The project in question is a Court House and based on past award submissions for this project, the client will only allow us to share photos of the building for public safety concerns. I usually include an explanatory note detailing these reasons and was wondering if this would be acceptable for this competition, as well.
The peer assessment committee must be able to understand the project design. The requirement for site plans, building plans and cross-sections are to permit the jury to evaluate the design. As this is a public building, it is recommended that you submit as much information as possible.
I would like to know if the submission fee for the 2016 GG Awards is for each entry or per office; in other words, can we enter multiple projects with the one fee?
The entry fee applies to each project submitted.
I would like more information concerning the 100-word statement crafted for website postings and media campaigns.
- When you say “crafted for website postings,” does that mean for SEO optimization? What are the restrictions?
- For the media campaign requirements, do I need to mention the RAIC | Architecture Canada and the Canada Council for the Arts?
May I include images in the 500-word project description?
Do I need to submit a bilingual submission?
The 100-word statement will be used as descriptive text in our media releases and should not include the RAIC | Architecture Canada or the Canada Council for the Arts.
No, the 500-word project description should not include images.
The submission may be submitted in English or French.
Do we need to register before submitting an entry?
No, pre-registration is not required.
May texts be submitted in either official language (French or English)?
Texts may be submitted in your language of choice (i.e. English or French).
